“He and She – the beginning of a relationship, a first date. It would seem that everything about this has already been said, played, sung, danced… Chopin’s piano preludes. How many times has this immortal music become the basis for stories about love? But therein lies the magic of art, where every author, touching upon timeless themes and subjects, draws new meanings and emotions from them – Orpheus and Eurydice, Romeo and Juliet, Chopin and George Sand… Yet my new ballet “Nine Dates” is not about them. The characters of the performance are an ordinary couple trying to begin their relationship. The first steps towards one another – touching, sometimes absurd, sometimes tragic. A mini-encyclopedia of first dates without needless moralizing and didacticism. Just two human solitudes trying to be together, and simply Chopin’s music”, – says Radu Poklitaru, principal choreographer of the “Kyiv Modern Ballet” Academic Theatre, about the production.

Раду Поклітару поставив нову виставу на одну дію «Дев’ять побачень» на романтичну музику Фрідеріка Шопена. А поряд з ним – по контрасту – ще один одноактний балет із назвою «In pivo veritas». Цей іронічний спектакль – парафраз на тему знаменитого стародавнього висловлювання «Істина у вині» Поклітару поставив багато років тому на традиційну ірландську музику. «Таємничий, дияволічний, жіночний, мужній, незрозумілий, всім зрозумілий трагічний Шопен» – попри те, що ці слова належать Святославу Ріхтеру, такі епітети Раду Поклітару вписує у лексичну хореографічну палітру своєї нової постановки «Дев’ять побачень» на музику Фредеріка Шопена. Вся багатобарвність романтичного світовідчуття, все те, що зазвичай вимагало для свого втілення монументальних композицій Шопен втілює завдяки одному лише фортепіано, а режисер-постановник завдяки парі двох прем’єрів KYIV MODERN-BALLET Theatre Олени Салтикової та Артема Шошина
