The Long Christmas Dinner
based on the play of the same name by Thornton Wilder, music by Antonio Vivaldi
The premiere of the production took place on November 30, 2024
We invite you to the premiere of the two-act ballet "Alice Through the Looking Glass", choreographed by Kateryna Kurman and performed by the artists of the Kyiv Modern-Ballet Academic Theatre. Together with Alice, you will immerse yourself in the mysterious world of the Looking Glass, where every step is filled with emotion, excitement, and anticipation. Each scene entices with its mystery, captivating and drawing you into a whirlwind of feelings, where the line between reality and fantasy, between light and darkness, is almost imperceptible. You will feel your heart beat in unison with the music as Alice journeys through this unexplored world, uncovering the depths of her thoughts as she encounters the fantastical characters along the way: the Queens, the Hatter, and others.
"Alice Through the Looking Glass" is not just a performance. It is a journey that will make you experience a whirlwind of emotions, feel inspired, and deeply ponder what true reality is. Every movement, every glance from the performers is a moment that will leave a lasting impression on your heart.
Let yourself be drawn into a world where the ordinary rules no longer apply, and your emotions bloom with renewed intensity.
At the heart of the story are new adventures of Alice in an unusual, whimsical, and at times dark adolescent world, where everything around her seems familiar yet strangely odd. This is a tale where reality crumbles before your eyes, giving way to the mysterious realm of the Looking Glass—a labyrinth of sorts, where the usual laws lose their power, and fantasies come to life, taking on new meanings. Here, in the world of the subconscious, the conscious, the unconscious, and the superconscious engage in a bizarre dance as if on a "giant chessboard," where each move is a game of the mind, emotions, and inner conflicts.
The ballet "Alice Through the Looking Glass" is not just a performance, but an adventure where every viewer will find a part of themselves. Each scene challenges the imagination, and each movement reflects inner contradictions and desires.
Feel how Alice, gradually distancing herself from reality, dives into the labyrinths of her subconscious, where new discoveries await her at every turn. Where will this journey lead her? What hidden truths will she uncover along the way? Who is she really—a girl escaping harsh reality, or someone more?
Premiere of the performance – November 30, 2024.
The performance is made possible with financial support from the DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE of the Kyiv City State Administration.

— Розкажіть, як виникла ідея поставити саме «Алісу в Задзеркаллі»? А не, наприклад, «Алісу в Дивокраї».
— Ідея поставити балет за «Алісою в Задзеркаллі» не була моєю власною ініціативою...
