To music by Mozart and Ukrainian lullabies. Kyiv Modern Ballet prepares the premiere of the ballet “The Little Prince”

To music by Mozart and Ukrainian lullabies. Kyiv Modern Ballet prepares the premiere of the ballet “The Little Prince”

On October 21 the “Kyiv Modern Ballet” Academic Theatre will present a new premiere — the ballet “The Little Prince” based on the work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

The ballet in two acts is staged by the chief ballet master of "Kyiv Modern Ballet", Honoured Artist of Ukraine Radu Poklitaru.

At the heart of the production is a new reading of the well-known story of the Little Prince, of his understanding of the value of the relationship between two individuals, where each journey to a new planet is a profound comprehension of the essence of personality. It is a tale of the superiority of simple things and values over the vanity and complexity of the «world of grown-ups», of the significance of childhood as the principal period of human life.

The ballet is set to the music of Mozart and Ukrainian lullabies. The costumes for the production are created by Dmytro Kuriata, and the 3D projections by Olha Nikitina.

The project is being carried out with the financial support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

This is the theatre’s first production whose premiere audiences will be able to watch online. The broadcast will take place on 21 October with the assistance of the Open Theatre platform (advance registration for the event via this link).
